👥 How many players do we need to play?
For 6 a side, each team must have six players on court with at least two female and two male players.
For 5 a side, each team must have five players with at least two female and two male players.
Any remaining spots can be filled by players of any gender. Extra teammates can sub in between games.

🔄 Can we sub players during the game?
You can only sub between mini games, not during live play. All subs must have an Urban Rec account and have signed the latest waiver.

How long is a match?
Matches are two halves of 18 to 20 minutes with a short halftime break. You will play as many mini games as possible. Each mini game win is worth one point.

🎯 How do we win a mini game?
Get all opposing players out by hitting them with a live ball or catching their throw. Catches bring back the first eliminated teammate in order.

🏃‍♂️ What is the opening rush?
Players start on the baseline. When the host calls “Dodgeball,” both teams rush to the centre line. You must take any ball you grab behind the attack line before throwing it.

📏 What gets a player out?
You are out if:
• You get hit by a live ball
• Your throw is caught
• You drop a catch
• The ball is knocked out of your hands
• You cross the centre line
• You hold a ball too long after a Hot Ball countdown

🧱 Can I block with a ball?
Yes. You can deflect throws with a ball in your hands, but if that ball is dropped or knocked away, you are out. You can also catch deflected balls to get the thrower out.

🧠 What happens with head shots?
If you get hit in the head, you are safe unless you ducked into the throw. Repeat head shots can lead to a warning or removal from the game.

🔥 What is Hot Ball?
If you hold a ball too long, the host will call out “Hot Ball” and start a countdown. If you still do not throw the ball, you are out.

🎽 What is the sweeper role?
Players not in the game can act as sweepers, retrieving and rolling balls back to their team. Sweepers must not hold or stall with balls.
