👥 How many players do we need to play?
Each team plays with six players on the field. You must have at least two female and two male players. The other two can be any gender.

🔄 Can we sub players during the game?
Yes, you can sub at any time during play. Just make sure subs have an Urban Rec account and have signed the latest waiver.

How long is the game?
Games are two halves of 18 to 20 minutes with a short break at halftime.

✂️ How does the game start?
Captains play scissors paper rock. The winner gets the first tap off, and the other team starts the second half.

🎯 How do we score points?
A try is worth one point. To score, place the ball on or over the try line. The dummy half cannot score, and diving to score is not allowed.

📦 How many touches do we get?
Each team gets six touches before possession changes. Turnovers also happen if a try is scored, the dummy half is touched, a forward pass or knock on occurs, or the ball is not played correctly on the mark.

🚫 What can the dummy half do?
The dummy half cannot score and will cause a turnover if touched. If they delay or the ball rolls too far, the host may call play on and defenders can move.

🥾 Are we allowed to kick?
Yes, but only on the fourth or fifth touch. Kicks must stay below shoulder height, stay in bounds, and cannot be kicked off the ground.

📏 How far back do defenders need to go?
Defenders must be 10 metres back from a tap and 5 metres back from a touch. They must retreat straight back and cannot move until the dummy half touches the ball.

🛑 What causes a penalty?
Penalties are given for forward passes, obstruction, offside, incorrect retreating, high kicks, and unsportsmanlike behaviour like phantom touches or arguing with the host.
